The Vice Province of Majella was first started as a Region, The Region of Mumbai of the Province of Bangalore to be percise. In the year 2000 the Region then consisted of two canonical houses of Mumbai and Porvorrim in Goa. The area consisted of the West Coast of India (Gujarat, Maharashtra, Costal Karnataka, and Goa). The main apostolic priority had been the pastoral care of Migrants, while mission preaching continues to be a major work of the confreres. Soon a third canonical house was added in Alangar, near Mangalore in Costal Karnataka. The region was growing and missionary zeal was felt by the lay and professed alike. In 2011 after a process of discernment the Province of Bangalore approved the creation of The Vice Province of Majella.

At present the Vice Province has 6 houses and two mission communities. The Communities of the Vice Province are comprised of: OLPS Chembur, Mumbai; Naigaon, Vasai; Porvorrim, Goa; St. Gerard Majella Study House, Varca, Goa; Sanquelim, Goa; NithyadarNivas, Alangar, Karnataka.

Ministry to Migrants remains an Apostolic Priority of the Vice Province. However with the growth of the Vice Province and support of the communities they serve, many other apostolates have gained in popularity, including: preaching of the good news, especially to  the abandoned through parish missions, retreats, catechetical programs, youth ministry. The Vice Province is also actively involved in working for greater  participation of the laity in the Church.
